Question by Happy Bowtie: University of Sydney – on campus vs. off campus living?
Hey there,
I’m going to attend University of Sydney for graduate studies for 2 years. I’m german and I have never been in Australia before. I’m wondering if its better to live on campus in one of those colleges or if its a better choice to get something off campus. Whats more fun and whats better in terms of cost of living.

Contact the accomodation office before you get here! If you’ve left it this late you’ll be lucky to find anything within 5 miles of the uni!

Mosman Celebrating the Centenary of International Women’s Day on 8 March at the Drill Hall was a delightful evening with Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales, delivering an entertaining address. She spoke about her experiences growing up in the country, her days at university and subsequent employment in the medical field.
The address was accompanied by a display ‘Celebrating the Women of Mosman in the Last 100 Years’ which is on display in Mosman Library until 18 March.

Question by layzaznboy: Cost of living in Sydney, Australia. (International Student)?
I’m moving to Australia to study and would like to get an idea of how much money I should take for the first month or so.
I got into University of Sydney and I’ll be living off campus, because it would be cheaper. I’m thinking about renting a studio and buying:
1) a mattress and bed sheets
2) a small fridge and a gas cooker if the studio does not come with them
3) cooking utensils (a pan, a cup, a knife, and a spoon)
4) a bike
So basically I’ll be going there with a bag full of clothing and buying everything else. Would AU,000 be enough for a month assuming I find a studio under AU0/week?
Any link to Australian Super Market would be appreciated.

firstly the chances of find a studio under 0 is pretty small unless you go outside of sydney!

Hello, i was wondering if anyone could give an American any advice on where i could get a job in Sydney. I’ve just finished University in California and am sick of it here, and i did grow up in Australia so i have my citizenship. But i haven’t been to Sydney in such a long time and don’t even know where to apply. Any suggestions? I want some place lively, like in the Strand Arcade, or in like central city. I wouldn’t even mind being a Barista but have 0 experience. Also if it helps i got two bachelors in the health care field. Are there any youth shelters or something you know of? Thanks very much??
